The Freedom Edition is crafted with unmatched pride and precision in partnership with CDI Custom Paint and Design, Winnebago’s trusted full-body paint provider for nearly 25 years. This limited edition showcases the pinnacle Elite Finish, featuring five layers of crystal-clear coat, meticulously sanded, cut, and buffed between each application. Every surface is carefully inspected to ensure a flawless, mirror-like brilliance worthy of its name.
Distinctive touches include a subtle yet striking high-metallic Iced Pearl “250” logo, color-matched slideroom sides, and an exclusive certificate of authenticity—marking this coach as a true celebration of American craftsmanship and heritage.

The Lichtsinn RV-exclusive Freedom Edition was developed in partnership with CDI Custom Paint, a trusted provider of full body painting for Winnebago since 2002, inside a 100,000 square foot facility and follows an 8 step process:
Step One is the Prep process, bringing in the View and Navion to clean them off so all of the craftsmen and craftswomen have a clear canvas to start. It includes taping off all the areas not painted, sanding all of the slippery areas to give the paint something to bite into and then lastly, removing any defects, minor dents, gouges or imperfections in the substrate, to provide the perfect canvas to paint.
Step two is the main base. When using several different substrates, the RV is primed and sealed to be ready for paint in a single back drop color.
Step three is the layout, applying the stencils and guides for painters to work through, with attention to detail to gain a nice crisp, clean paint line all the way across the View
Similar to the layout is step four stripes and secondary colors. No less tedious but just different work. This is every other color that is placed on the View and Navion, adding a cover and papering over that to add the next color. And just keep building up each color until all colors are complete.
This is where the Freedom Edition differs from the rest of the Winnebago lineup in that each of the slideroom walls is painted to match, so that as you extend your slide rooms, your Elite Finish will flow through from sidewall to slide room, without seeing a white wall up against your Freedom Edition Finish.
Finally, we partnered with CDI to custom design a subtle yet striking high-metallic Iced Pearl “250” logo,
Step five is the clear coat Automotive clear coat is used as multiple layers of specialized, unpigmented resin applied over the colored base paint of a vehicle. It acts as a transparent, protective shield and gives the vehicle's color its deep, reflective shine.
This is where the Elite Finish differs from the rest of the Winnebago lineup… we selected the Elite Finish, the finest available in the custom paint process, which includes 3 additional layers of clear coat for a mirror like finish, 5 in total. The standard is 2 coats of clear with a nib and buff to complete. The Elite Finish adds 3 coats of clear, sand, 2 additional coats of clear, with a full sand and buff with a total of 5 layers of clear coat
Step six is tear down and parts. And so throughout the whole process the View and Navion have been protected so that paint or clear coat isn’t where it shouldn’t go. It involves unmasking, revealing it to the world. All the areas that were taped up are removed and any parts that were removed are reinstalled, such as an awning, a ladder, if you needed taillights or steps or really any part that was taken off because it’s easier to paint without the part on, those are put that part back on and get your coach closer to the way it was when you brought it here.
Step seven is detail. The RV is detailed, and taped to identify any areas where light sanding will cure any imperfections and polishing and buffing the View and Navion to make it showroom ready.
Final finish is step eight in an extensive quality control inspection. This is where anything is repaired that may have happened in any step in our process that isn’t up to CDI’s elite finish.
