Storing the Winnebago Travato Power MAX System in Extreme Conditions

The Winnebago Travato 59KL is built with the advanced Winnebago Power Max System which is fueled by a Lithionics lithium-ion battery. The battery system plays an important role in the long-term performance and reliability of your Travato, making proper storage and maintenance a top priority. To keep your Travato running at its best, it’s important to know how to care for the lithium batteries during both short- and long-term storage. Read on to discover the best practices for maintaining your Travato’s lithium power system.

Storing the Winnebago Travato in Extreme Conditions

The Lithionics battery in your Winnebago Travato includes the Lithionics internal heater.  The thermostat of the internal heater will turn on at 43°F and off at 48°F.

When subject to winter conditions, there are two methods you can follow to protect your battery.

  1. If you’d like to utilize the use of the internal heater, keep the battery ON, solar ON, and leave plugged into shore power. Shut down any appliances, lights, and other DC loads. This will keep the internal heater running and protect your battery.
  2. If shore power or the use of an extension cord and charge is not possible, follow the recommended instructions below. Storage outside of these parameters may reduce battery life.

Storage Duration

  • <1 Month: Charge the battery to 100% State of Charge (SOC) and Power off the battery.
  • >1 Month: Charge the battery to 50-80% SOC and power off the battery. Repeat this every 6 months
  • When ready to use, charge the battery to 100% SOC and use it normally.

See recommended Storage Conditions for your Lithionics battery below:

Storage Conditions

  • Do not store the battery at extreme temperatures below -4°F or above 122°F.
  • Do not store the battery in direct sunlight
  • Do not store the battery in the presence of standing water in the battery compartment.
  • Do not store the battery with trickle charging or solar charging operational.
  • Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s storage guidelines.
  • Storing your battery outside of this procedure can affect its performance and useable lifetime.
  • To guarantee your battery’s warranty coverage, please adhere to these guidelines.

By following these recommendations, you’ll be able to maintain the life of the Power Max System in your Winnebago Travato 59KL.
