Each finish is expertly applied by skilled Newmar artisans within the company’s 45,000 square-foot paint facility.
Unlike standard gel-coat finishes, Newmar uses a true full paint process, similar to what you see on a luxury automobile. Each RV goes through multiple stages of sanding, painting, and clear coating to create a finish that’s smooth, consistent, and incredibly durable. Each Newmar masterpiece finish begins with a thorough prepping method that involves the sanding, scuffing, and masking of several different materials, from raw aluminum to rubber and plastics. To create the proper base, these same materials are treated with several cleaners, primers, and sealers, setting the stage for a smooth foundation.
Next, multiple layers of BASF base coat are carefully applied, this is the same brand trusted by luxury auto manufacturers to create a rich radiant finish. Next, a vinyl spray mask is added and tucked tightly into corners allowing the artisans to add stripes and other graphic accents with precision. Each stripe is hand-bladed to minimize paint lines before undergoing a thorough inspection designed to identify any imperfections before a single layer of clear coat is applied. The motor homes are then moved to a downdraft booth where several layers of clear coat are applied to each surface for a mesmerizing shine that is formulated to retain its brilliance even after years of travel. From there it’s on to the bake oven for curing before final details are added, including a roof coating, slide out seals, and protective film. Once completed, the Freedom Aire RV then undergoes a rigorous inspection to ensure a flawless, smooth surface free of imperfections.
