Where Are Winnebago Motorhomes Made?

Founded in 1958, Winnebago became a household name as the first RV manufacturer to utilize an automotive-style assembly line system. Over six decades later, that tradition of innovation has continued. As the top Winnebago dealer in North America, we are often asked where Winnebago motorhomes are made. Being the closest dealer to the Winnebago Motorhome Factory located in our very own Forest City, IA, we are able to answer this questions more intimately than most.

Winnebago facilities located in North Iowa include Forest City, Charles City, and Lake Mills. The largest of these is the location in Forest City, Iowa, and Lichtsinn RV is just 1-mile down the road. Winnebago Factory
Main Production Area “Big Bertha” – Forest City, Iowa.

The Forest City Winnebago Campus is approximately 60 acres large and is one of the most technologically advanced RV manufacturing facilities in existence. The campus houses production facilities including the Stitchcraft Facility where RV chairs, windows, valances, sofas and other innovative custom furniture pieces exclusive to Winnebago are built.  The Chassis Weld Facility is where the raw chassis is prepared to become a home on wheels and the front cab and basement storage are added to Class A and Class C motorhomes. The Forest City Campus is also home to Big Bertha, the name of the main production area on the Forest City Campus. Big Bertha is equivalent in length to three football fields.

The Forest City location is also home to Winnebago Customer Service and the Winnebago Visitor’s Center which is open to the public and chronicles the company’s history. Factory tours are also available to the public with varying hours through the year. Speak with a Lichtsinn RV Consultant to schedule your tour.

Winnebago also has two smaller production facilities located in Lake Mills and Charles City, Iowa. Lake Mills is only 15 miles north of Lichtsinn RV, and produces select Class B Camper Van models. This location also offers tours to the public. The second of these smaller locations is Charles City Hardwoods Facility which is located in Charles City, Iowa, approximately 60 miles from Lichtsinn RV. This location fabricates and assembles hardwood products for various Winnebago motorhome components.
