Reviewing Winnebago’s Campervan Lineup

As new and seasoned RVers flock to America’s highways and campgrounds, Winnebago’s best-selling Class B Vans are leading the pack. As the largest Winnebago dealer in North America, we receive a lot of questions on the differences between Winnebago’s popular campervan lineup. Winnebago’s current Class B-Van lineup includes the Solis, Travato, Revel, Era and Boldt. In this video we will compare the specs and features on each of the five models.

First, we have the Winnebago Solis. The Solis is a highly adaptable and affordable adventure vehicle built on the gasoline-powered RAM ProMaster chassis. The Solis is available in three floorplans – the 59P, 59PX and the newest floorplan Winnebago Solis Pocket 36A. The 59PX is built on the extended RAM ProMaster chassis allowing for a gear garage and room for an air conditioner on top of the unit with the pop-top. The 59P floorplan can only support an air conditioner without the pop-top option. Both the 59P and 59PX feature an optional pop-up roof top, flexible seating options, solar panels expanding up to 520-watts, a simplified water system and premium insulation. The Winnebago Solis 59P and 59PX offers comfortable sleeping for four people, between the rear Murphy+ bed and the pop top and offers 3-point seat belts for 4 people. The Pocket floorplan measures just 17’10” in length. It features a flexible living space with an innovative dinette that can be used in one of 5 ways.  The Pocket sleeps up to 3 people with the Murphy+ Bed and the dinette converted to sleeping mode.

Winnebago Travato

Next, the Winnebago Travato. The extremely popular Winnebago Travato has been at the forefront of the vanlife movement since it began. The Travato is built on the gasoline-powered RAM ProMaster chassis and available in 4 floorplans – the 59G, 59GL, 59K, and 59KL.  The 59G and 59GL have been redesigned based on extensive voice-of-customer research. Winnebago removed the passenger side bench seat and added two automotive-grade seats with 3-point seatbelts and a dinette table. The 59G and 59GL also feature the innovative WinnSleep system that combines a comfortable, hygienic foam mattress with a European suspension system to increase comfort. The 59K and 59KL feature several upgrades for improved usability including a slideout galley extension, the new WinnSleep system, pop-up power outlets, and a reconfigured wardrobe to maximize storage. The Pure3 lithium system in the 59GL and 59KL features a 3-module lithium-ion energy pack with a new optional fourth battery bringing the usable watt-hours to 12,000 versus 9,000 with the 3-module. The Pure3 Energy management system comes with a 3,600-watt inverter and 215-watts of solar with the option for expansion. Winnebago used extensive voice-of-customer research to redesign America’s most popular campervan with cutting-edge technology and features to improve guests’ experience.

Moving from campervans built on the RAM ProMaster chassis, we will review Winnebago’s campervans built on the diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis.

REVEL

First, we have the Winnebago Revel. The 4×4 Revel has a function-fueled design with the freedom of 4WD to go off-road and off-the-grid. The Revel is available in one floorplan, the 44E. The Revel has features that allow owners to stay off-the-grid longer and live comfortably including: ergonomic comfort, easy-to-maintain surfaces, exterior flexibility, a rear bed that is on a power lift for sleeping at night and space for gear during the day. The Revel is now lithium equipped with the Lithionics (2) 125 amp-hour Lithium ion batteries, providing 1,600-watt hours of energy per battery or 3,200-watt hours total. The Revel comes with a 2,000-watt inverter and a solar panel with charger. The Revel is the shortest of all of Winnebago’s diesel campervans and has the highest ground clearance for exceptional off-road capabilities.

ERA HEADER

The next campervan in Winnebago’s lineup is the Winnebago Era – the original Winnebago campervan. The Era is designed to be reliable and powerful with on or off-road capabilities and premium interior styling. The Era is available with the optional 4WD Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis or the standard rear wheel drive Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The Era is available in three floorplans – the 70A, 70B, and 70X. The Era comes with a chef-friendly kitchen with elegant Corian countertops, a two or three burner cooktop with glass cover, microwave or microwave-convection oven, stainless steel sink, and compressor-driven refrigerator. The Era provides the most spacious Class B van from Winnebago measuring at 24 feet long and is available with an on-demand 4WD option.

Winnebago Boldt

Finally, we have the Winnebago Boldt. The Winnebago Boldt is the epitome of stealth, off-the-grid campervans. The Boldt is built on the diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis with the option of a 4WD chassis. The Boldt pairs the Pure3 Energy Management System with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 chassis providing owners with a generator-free RV. The Pure3 Energy Management system in the Boldt features a 48-volt energy pack providing 12,000 watt-hours of energy. This allows for complete 30-amp coach electricity using a 3,600-watt pure sine wave inverter. The Pure3 system is charged by the 58-volt second alternator or under the hood generator and the (2) 115-watt solar panels with battery charger. The Boldt is available in the 70BL and 70KL floorplan. The key differences in the floorplans are the bathroom location (rear bathroom in the KL and mid-coach bath in the BL) and the 70BL can sleep 3 while the 70KL can sleep 2. The Boldt is all-season ready with best-in-class insulation, in-coach water lines and the Truma Combi Eco Plus heating.
