The Winnebago Travato vs. The Winnebago Revel

Both the Travato and Revel are compact Class B RVs, but from there they are very different. Below we will review key differences in the Winnebago Travato and the Winnebago Revel focusing on the Chassis, Exterior, Floorplans, Bath, the Electrical System and Heating and Cooling in each.

CHASSIS

Travato: The Winnebago Travato is built on the RAM ProMaster Chassis and achieves between 18-22 MPG. The Travato has a 280-hp 3.6L V6 gas engine and 6-speed automatic 62TE transmission with an 180-amp. alternator. The Travato has 4-wheel ABS brakes, stylized aluminum wheels and is equipped with SuperSprings SumoSprings on the front and rear of the coach. The Ram ProMaster Chassis is equipped with a number of safety features including: Crosswind Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross Path Detection. In the cab area of the Travato is a Radio/Rearview Monitor System with a 7” multimedia touchscreen infotainment center.

REVEL: The Winnebago Revel is built on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter Diesel VS30 Chassis and achieves between 18-22 MPG. It has a 3.0L 6-cylinder 188-hp turbo-diesel engine with a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. It has on-demand 4WD with Hi/Lo range and electronic stability and traction control. You have the option of adding performance wheels with BF Goodrich T/A KO2 all-terrain tires to your Revel. The Mercedes Benz Chassis is equipped with a number of safety features including: a Rain Sensor with Integrated Wet Wiper System, High Beam Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Assist. In the cab area of the Revel you’ll find a 10” MBUX touchscreen multimedia infotainment center with intelligent voice control and a rear camera.

EXTERIOR

TRAVATO: The Travato has a 13’ Colorado Carefree armless powered patio awning with LED lighting and a motion sensor retract mode. The Awning can be Bluetooth controlled.  You have the option of adding a bike rack, movable ladder and/or a luggage rack to your Travato.

In addition to the standard driver and passenger entry doors, there is a sliding side entry door and dual rear entry doors on the Travato. Both the side and rear entry doors have an assist bar and a screen door. The side screen door includes magnetic closures. The Travato includes a rod and privacy screen for the rear annex which provides additional privacy outdoors. The Travato has aluminum running boards with ground-effect lighting.

REVEL:  When you first approach the Revel you’ll notice its 9’6″ powered patio awning with LED lighting that can be Bluetooth controlled. The Revel includes generously sized running boards with ground effect lighting and rear mud guards to keep the dirt at bay. The Revel has a movable exterior ladder that can be locked into place to prevent theft. The ladder allows you to easily access the Revel’s luggage rack from many angles. The exterior table on the Revel has an adjustable L-Track Table Mount, allowing you to adjust the table to ensure it is level.

In addition to the standard driver and passenger entry doors, there is a sliding side entry door and dual rear entry doors in the Revel. The dual rear entry doors on the Revel include a screen door with blackout panel. The side door on the Revel includes a screen door with magnetic closure system.

FLOORPLANS

TRAVATO: The Travato is available in 2 main floorplans, the 59G and 59K. Each of these floorplans is available with the option to add Lithium Power. With the addition of lithium, these floorplans are named the Winnebago Travato 59GL and Winnebago Travato 59KL. The “L” denotes lithium powered.

The cab seats swivel in each of the Travato floorplans integrating them into the main living area. The passenger seat has a pedestal table that can be mounted for a working/eating surface. The Travato comes with blackout cassette shades, tinted coach windows and insulated rear window zipper coverings. You have the option to add dual-pane acrylic windows for an additional thermal break.  The floor on the Travato is easy to wipe down and you have the option of getting a custom woven floor mat. Each Travato floorplan includes an in-floor locked storage compartment. There are RAM Tough-Track mounts throughout the Travato allowing you to securely mount your devices and allow for easy viewing.

The 59G | 59GL floorplans feature a dining/seating area with (2) seats with 3-point safety belts and an adjustable/removable table. The 59K | 59KL floorplans feature two center twin sized seating/sleeping areas. There is an adjustable/removable table that can be mounted for when a flat surface is needed. The twin sized seating/sleeping areas measure 28”x80” and 28”x74” and can be combined into one large sleeping surface measuring 74”x76” with the flex bed system.

The Galley in the Travato features a solid surface countertop, a stainless-steel sink and either a flip-up countertop extension 59G | 59GL or a pull-out countertop extension 59K | 59KL. The 59G | 59GL have a Microwave Oven and a two-door 6.0 cu. ft. compressor-driven refrigerator/freezer. The 59K | 5KGL have a Microwave/Convection Oven and a single door 4.3 cu. ft. compressor-driven refrigerator/freezer. The non-lithium 59G | 59K floorplans includes a 2-burner range LP cooktop while the lithium powered 59GL | 59KL include a single burner induction cooktop to eliminate the need for LP.

The 59G | 59GL floorplans feature a double bed measuring 49”x77” and includes ample storage below. The bed can be raised and locked into position so larger items can be stored in the rear of the Travato when the bed is raised.

REVEL: The Revel is available in 1 floorplan, the Winnebago Revel 44E. This floorplan measures 19’7” in length and can sleep up to 2 people. The wheelbase on the Revel measures 144”. Once you step inside the Revel you’ll be greeted by the bench seat with removable pedestal table. The cab seats in the Revel can be swiveled to become part of the main seating area as well. The Revel has heavy duty vinyl non-slip flooring throughout making for easy cleanup. The flooring is placed over insulated vapor barrier plasticore flooring to provide a thermal barrier. The RAM Tough-Track mounts found throughout the Revel allow you to ensure your devices are safely mounted for easy viewing. The Revel has tinted dual-pane euro acrylic windows with cassette shades that act as a thermal barrier from the exterior elements reducing heating and cooling loss as well as providing privacy.

In the Galley of the Revel you’ll find laminate countertops, a portable single burner induction range top, removable countertop extension, a stainless steel sink, a pantry and a 3.0 cu. ft. (12V) compressor-driven refrigerator and freezer that can be accessed from inside or outside the coach.

In the rear of the Revel you’ll find the Gear Garage that can be accessed from inside the coach or through the dual rear entry doors. The Gear Garage area includes a 49”x79” Power Lift Bed with molded pockets and zippered storage below. The bed can be raised during the day to secure larger items. Once the bed is lowered at night you can still access the storage area below. On the floor of the Gear Garage are six removable cargo tie-down anchors to secure your gear.

BATH

TRAVATO: The Wet Bath in the Travato floorplans include a shower curtain and a toilet with foot pedal and sprayer. The 59G | 59GL floorplans feature a 28”x51” Wet Bath with a stainless-steel sink. The 59K | 59KL floorplans feature a rear 25”x43” Wet Bath that can be accessed from inside or through the rear dual doors of the coach. The 59K | 59KL floorplans include a fold-down sink and access to a large wardrobe storage cabinet.

REVEL: The Revel includes an All-in-One Gear Closet and Wet Bath. The shower wall with wall surround measures 31”x26” and includes 2 bamboo shelves for storage that can easily be removed. The bath area of the Revel includes a shower curtain, a removable clothes rod and a swiveling cassette toilet.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (POWER)

TRAVATO: The Travato 59G | 59K floorplans feature a Cummins Onan QG 2800i gas generator, (2) deep-cycle AGM maintenance-free Group 31 batteries and a 1,000-watt pure sine wave inverter. The 59GL | 59KL floorplans have the Pure3 Energy Management System with the 3-module lithium-ion energy pack, 3,600-watt inverter, energy pack heating system and a second dedicated alternator powered by the chassis engine. Each floorplan includes a 215-watt solar panel and a solar charge controller with a junction box and plugs so that additional solar panels can be added up to 450-watts total. You can choose to add additional lithium power by selecting the 4-module lithium-ion energy pack in the Travato 59GL | 59KL as well.

REVEL: Previously equipped with two (2) 125-Ah lithium batteries (250-Ah total), the Revel now includes as a standard feature a single standard Lithionics, UL-1973 certified, 320-Ah lithium-ion battery which provides nearly a 30% increase in available watt hours – from 3,200-watt hours to an upgraded 4,133-watt hours. This can be even further expanded with a second Lichtsinn RV-installed Lithionics, UL-1973 certified, 320-Ah battery, increasing total watt hours to 8,266 watt-hours. Additionally, Lithionics Battery’s proprietary Battery Management System features protective safety measures that eliminate the need for heat wraps on each battery. The lithium batteries are stored inside the driver side wheel well so they maintain the temperature that is inside the coach. The Revel is equipped with 215-watts of solar power and the solar controller can handle up to 450-watts. The Revel includes a 2,000-watt inverter/charger to provide whole coach electrical service and roof port wiring access to easily feed wiring up to the roof of the Revel.

HEATING AND COOLING

TRAVATO: The Travato includes a Coleman-Mach 10 NDQ Air Conditioner with Bluetooth app control, a built-in thermostat and auto mode that turns the blower fan off when the compressor is not running. The Truma Combi® Eco Plus water heater and coach heating system w/two 850-watt heating elements warms the Travato.

REVEL: To heat the Revel you have the hydronic heating system with an LED touchscreen panel. Standard in the Revel is a powered roof vent. This vent is removed if you instead opt for the Coleman-Mach 10 NDQ Air Conditioner with a built-in thermostat that can be Bluetooth controlled.
