Keep reading to discover the towing capabilities of the Class B camper vans in the Winnebago lineup.
To accurately determine towing capacity, you first need to know the weight of the vehicle you plan to tow. Many boats fall within the towing range of most camper vans, while small cars and SUVs may be towable depending on their weight. First, there are a few essential RV weight measurements that are important to understand towing capacity.
Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) – This is the capacity of your camper van for total weight of all cargo inside, which includes all your gear, you and other occupants, full freshwater tanks, etc. This value will vary greatly between various motorhomes, so it is important to keep this figure in mind. To find the OCCC of your camper van, refer to the yellow sticker inside the driver or passenger side cab door.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) – This value is the maximum weight fully loaded with fuel, water, occupants, and cargo.
Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) – This is the absolute maximum weight of your camper van fully loaded with fuel, water, people, cargo, and any trailer or vehicle towed behind it.
To determine the towing capacity of a camper van you need to subtract the GVWR from the GCWR. Now that you know this terminology – we have listed the towing capacity of Winnebago camper vans below.
Winnebago Solis Towing Capacity
The Winnebago Solis and Solis Pocket are both built on the fuel-efficient RAM ProMaster V6 chassis with gas engine and the Solis is available in two floor plans, the Solis 59P and 59PX, then you have the Solis Pocket 36A. The shortest of the Winnebago Solis floorplans is the Winnebago Solis Pocket. Measuring just 17’10” in length, the Pocket is known for its flexible interior and affordability.
The Solis has a factory installed 3,500 lb. tow package. However, if your Solis is fully loaded, using all your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 8,550 lbs. (Pocket), 8,900 lbs. (59P), or 9,350 lbs. (59PX) that you are still limited to the GCWR of 12,000 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 3,450 lbs. (Pocket), 3,100 lbs. (59P), or 2,650 lbs. (59PX). (GCWR 12,000 – GVWR.)
Winnebago Travato Towing Capacity
The Winnebago Travato is also built on the RAM ProMaster Chassis and is available in two floorplans, the 59G and 59K, with the 59K offering the availability of lithium power, the Travato 59KL. The Travato is known for its streamlined features and energy and fuel-efficient systems.
The Travato has a factory installed 3,500 lb. tow package. However, if your Travato is fully loaded, using all your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 9,350 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 12,000 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 2,650 lbs. (GCWR 12,000 – GVWR 9,350.)
Winnebago Revel Towing Capacity
The Winnebago Revel and Revel Sport are built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter diesel chassis and is a true AWD camper van featuring function-fueled design ready to go off-road when you are.
The Revel has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, if your Revel is fully loaded, using all your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 9,050 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 13,930 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,880 lbs. (GCWR 13,930 – GVWR 9,050.)
