The Winnebago Forza vs. The Winnebago Journey

The Winnebago Forza vs. the Winnebago Journey

While the Winnebago Forza and Winnebago Journey are both Class A diesel motorhomes, there are many differences across these models. The Winnebago Journey is the flagship Winnebago diesel model while the Forza is the base level Winnebago Class A diesel. We have highlighted some of the key differences in the Winnebago Forza vs. Winnebago Journey below including Chassis, Exterior, Floorplans, Interior, Heating and Cooling and Electrical Systems.

CHASSIS

FORZA:  The Forza is built atop the Freightliner XCS chassis. The chassis size is dependent on floorplan as listed below:

26,000-lb. chassis, Allison® 6-speed automatic 2100 MH transmission (34T)

27,910-lb. chassis, Allison 6-speed automatic 2500 MH transmission (36H)

29,410-lb. chassis, Allison 6-speed automatic 2500 MH transmission (38W)

The Forza has a 340-hp Cummins ISB 6.7L engine.

JOURNEY: The Winnebago Journey is built atop the flexible Freightliner Maxum II XCM modular rail bridge chassis. This chassis provides floor flush mounting throughout the coach and 4x stiffer torsion to ensure a super ride and handling. The chassis size is dependent on floorplan as listed below:

36,400-lb. chassis, Allison® 3000 6-speed automatic transmission (34N)

38,700-lb. chassis, Allison 3000 6-speed automatic transmission (36K, 40P)

The Journey is equipped with a 380-hp Cummins ISL 8.9L engine.

EXTERIOR

FORZA:  Outside the Forza you’ll first notice its premium high-gloss sidewall skin. The Forza includes (2) powered patio awnings and an optional exterior entertainment center with 32” HDTV.

JOURNEY: Outside of the Journey you’ll first notice it Sikkens premium high-gloss enhanced paint finish.The Journey boasts a 22’ Carefree Apex powered patio awning with a wind sensor. Atop the slideouts on the Journey are the Slide-Out Sweepeze that scrape debris off the top of the slideouts. Getting in and out of the exterior compartments is a breeze with the SureStore push button release compartment doors. Standard on the Journey is an exterior entertainment center with 43” TV and a home theater soundbar system with a portable Bluetooth subwoofer. You have the option of adding a refrigerator/freezer on the patio-side of the Journey.

FLOORPLANS

FORZA:  The current Winnebago Forza floorplans include the 34T, 36H and the 38W. Winnebago has discontinued production on the Winnebago Forza 38D or 38R floorplans.

The Winnebago Forza is available in 3 floorplans ranging from 35’6” in length to 39’10” in length and sleep 5-9 people dependent on floorplan.

The Forza 34T is the shortest of the floorplans at 35’6” in length and features two slideouts. The driver side slideout house the BenchMark Dinette while the passenger side slideout houses the kitchen and bedroom wardrobe.

The Forza 36H floorplan measures 37’9” in length and features three slideouts. The large driver side slideout houses the kitchen and bedroom chest of drawers storage. The front passenger side slideout houses the BenchMark Dinette and your choice of TrueComfort+ Sofa or Theater Seating. The rear passenger side slideout houses your choice of queen or king sized bed. The all-in-one bath is located in the center passenger side of the coach.

And finally, the longest of the floorplans, the Forza 38W measures 39’10” in length. This triple slideout floorplan includes a full-length passenger side slideout. The 38W floorplan is the Winnebago Forza with Bunk Beds. In the passenger-side slideout you’ll find the BenchMark Dinette, your choice of TrueComfort+ Sofa or Theater Seating, bunk beds and the bedroom wardrobe. In the driver-side front slideout you’ll find the galley. The rear driver-side slideout houses the queen-sized bed. This floorplan boasts a bath-and-a-half and can sleep up to 9 people with the addition of the optional powered StudioLoft bed.

JOURNEY: The current Winnebago Journey floorplans include the 34N, 36K and the 40P. The floorplans range in length from 35’6” to 41’4” in length and each sleep up to 4 people.

The Journey 34N is the shortest of the Journey floorplans at 35’6” in length and features three slideouts. The driver side front slideout houses the oven and the TV as well as the optional fireplace. The driver side rear slideout houses the king-sized bed. The passenger side slideout is a full length slideout and houses your choice of a Rest Easy Sofa or Theater Seats, the buffet and dining table, the refrigerator and the customizable wardrobe found in the bedroom. The Journey 34N includes a center coach bathroom.

The Winnebago Journey 36K measures 37’9” in length and is equipped with 3 slideouts. You have your choice of a Rest Easy Sofa or Theater Seating in the driver side front slideout. The rear driver side slideout houses the king-sized bed. The Galley area of the 36K includes a Dining Table and Chairs with Buffet, an Island with a Pull-Up Countertop Extension and a Fireplace. The Journey 36K also includes a large center coach bathroom.  The passenger side slideout extends the length of the living area of the coach and houses the dining table and buffet and the kitchen.

The largest of the Winnebago Journey floorplans is the Winnebago Journey 40P. This floorplan measures 41’4” in length and is equipped with 4 slideouts. The 40P floorplan includes the Rest Easy Sofa, pull-out countertop extension and cooktop in the driver side front slideout. The passenger side front slideout houses the Theater Seating and your choice of the Glide & Dine Dining Table and Chairs with Buffet or Ergonomic Dinette seating.  The Journey 40P includes a center guest ½ bathroom as well as a full-sized master bath in the rear of the coach. The rear driver side slideout houses the king-sized bed and the passenger side rear slideout houses the expansive customizable bedroom wardrobe storage and optional washer and dryer.  

INTERIOR

FORZA:  The Forza floorplans each includes a BenchMark Dinette with under bench storage. The Forza has a soft vinyl ceiling. You can upgrade the standard MCD blackout roller shades in the Forza to the MCD solar/blackout roller shades. On the floor of the Forza you’ll find vinyl flooring throughout the coach. To increase sleeping capacity you have the option of adding a powered StudioLoft bed to your Forza.  

JOURNEY: Once inside the Journey one of the first features you’ll notice is the flat floor design throughout thanks to the Freightliner Maxum II XCM modular rail bridge chassis. You’ll also notice the convenient Glide N Dine dining table and chairs (34N | 36K) and the Dine-O-Workstation (36K). The Journey has an automotive grade sound deadening soft vinyl ceiling. Each floorplan includes buffet storage. For ease in operating your Journey systems the Journey includes the Winnebago Connect control center. On the floor of the Journey you’ll find luxury plank residential flooring. MCD day/night roller shades are standard in the Forza. You have the option of adding (2) versatile Chottomans that provide footrests, extra seating or storage.

GALLEY

FORZA:  The galley in the Forza includes a 3-burner gas range top with storage below. Each floorplan in the Forza includes a 2-door 110 VAC residential refrigerator and freezer with an icemaker. The 34T | 36H floorplans include a 16 cu. ft. refrigerator/freezer while the 38W has a 19 cu. ft. refrigerator/freezer.

JOURNEY: The galley in the Journey is showcased with a handsome tile backsplash with Corian border. The Journey includes a 2-burner portable induction range top. The refrigerator/freezer in the Journey is a 2-door 18 cu. ft. residential stainless-steel refrigerator with a water dispenser and automatic icemaker. For your convenience in the kitchen countertop of the Journey you’ll find a pop-up 110V charging station. The Journey also has a central vacuum system. You have the option of adding a stainless-steel drawer-style dishwasher in your Journey.

BEDROOM

FORZA: A queen sized bed is standard in the Forza floorplans with the option of a king sized bed in the 36H floorplan only. Each Forza floorplan includes a bedroom HDTV however the TV size varies by floorplan as follows: 28” HDTV (38W), 32” HDTV (34T) and a 40” HDTV in the 36H. The Forza floorplans have wardrobe bedroom storage.   

JOURNEY: A king sized bed is standard in the Journey and includes the E-Z Make bed system with power incline headrest. For your entertainment you’ll find a 43” Smart HDTV in the bedroom of the Journey and for versatile storage the Baldacci Customizable Italian Wardrobe System.

HEATING AND COOLING

FORZA:  The Forza 34T floorplan includes (2) 13,500 BTU air conditioners and a 35,000 BTU ducted furnace. The Forza 36H floorplan includes (2) 15,000 BTU air conditioners and a 40,000 BTU ducted furnace. The Forza 38W floorplan includes (2) 15,000 BTU air conditioners and (2) 20,000 BTU ducted furnaces.

JOURNEY: The Journey 34N includes (2) 15,000 BTU air conditioners and the 36K | 40P include (3) 13,500 BTU air conditioners. For heating the Journey uses the Aqua-Hot 400D hydronic heating system. You have the option of adding hydronic heated flooring through-out your Winnebago Journey.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

FORZA:  The Winnebago Forza includes a 2,000-watt inverter/charger and 6,000-watt Cummins Onan generator. Also included are (4) deep-cycle Group 31 Marine/RV batteries. To help you stay connected the Forza includes a WiFi router signal booster. You have the option to add a Winegard Trav’ler automatic HDTV Satellite System as well.

JOURNEY: The Winnebago Journey includes a 3,000-watt pure sine wave inverter/charger and either a 8,000-watt Cummins Onan generator (34N) or a 10,000-watt Cummins Onan generator (36K | 40P). The Journey has (6) deep-cycle Group 31 Marine/RV batteries. To help you stay connected the Journey has a WiFi Router and a Winegard Air 360+ Antenna. You have the option of adding the Lithium system upgrade to your Journey which includes (4) 125 amp-hour batteries and (3) roof mounted solar panels, 115-watts each.
