Lithium Powered Winnebago Travato

What is included in the Winnebago Power MAX System?

This system includes (1) Lithionics UL 1973 approved 51.2V, 165-amp hour battery with 8,448-watt hour capacity, with a factory or Lichtsinn RV Master Certified installed option to add a second battery. The key component in the Winnebago Power MAX system is the innovative Winnebago x EcoFlow 5-in-1 Power Hub Pro, a compact, all-in-one energy system designed to maximize efficiency and provide ease of use with a single touchscreen control panel and EcoFlow app. This advanced system combines a 3,600-watt inverter, inverter charger, DC-DC converter for 12V appliances, an MPPT solar charge controller, and alternator charger into a single device that streamlines power management while also reducing wiring complexity, maximizing efficient use of space and weight, and optimizing performance.

What amount of Power does the Power MAX System in the Travato 59KL provide?

With the single Lithionics 165-amp hour lithium battery, you’re provided with 8,448-watt hour capacity. If you elect to have the second Lithionics battery installed, you’ll have 16,896-watt hours of available energy.

Does the inverter need to be on to run 12-V appliances in the Travato 59KL?

No the inverter does not need to be on. The inverter is only required to be on when you are wanting to power 120-volt electronics, like the air conditioner, without shore power.

How do you charge the Power Max System in the Travato 59KL?

There are 3 primary ways to charge this system:

  • Dual Alternator Charging – The Power MAX system provides exceptional power by use of dual alternator charging which can provide the power to run an air conditioner while also charging your batteries at idle. The dual alternators charge up to 9,000-watts when you include the second under the hood American Power Systems 160-amp alternator, which also charges quickly at idle.
  • Shoreline – Like other RVs, the Winnebago Power Max System can be charged off shoreline power or when it is hooked up to power at a campsite. However, unlike most other RVs, the Travato 59KL is equipped with a 3,600-watt pure sine wave inverter bringing 30 amps of power wherever you go.
  • Solar Package – The Winnebago Power Max System can be charged by the Merlin solar power system. The Travato 59KL’s MPPT solar controller provides best-in-class solar absorption, up to 30% better than competitors, giving you more off-the-grid performance. The Travato comes standard with 245 watts of Merlin solar panels with ports to plug in additional Merlin portable panels up to 1,600w.

Of the power sources, what charges the Travato 59KL the fastest?

The use of the dual alternators charges the lithium Travato the fastest. The Travato’s dedicated 52-volt high-output alternator allows you to charge the battery in just under 2 hours of driving.

How long can you run the AC off the Power Max System?

The air conditioner with run for approximately 6-7 hours off a single lithium battery.

What are the considerations for cold weather operation?

The Lithionics 165-amp hour lithium battery is in a sealed and insulated compartment. Temperatures in the compartment are regulated by the interior temperature of the motorhome.  A good rule of thumb is that if you as the coach owner are comfortable inside, so is your battery.

The Lithionics battery is temperature controlled with an internal thermostat:

  • Thermostat on: <43°F
  • Thermostat off: > 48°F

The Lithionics lithium battery is discharged as required by the load and should only be used around the following conditions:

  • High Temperature Limit: 131°F
  • Low Temperature Limit: -4°F.

What is the basic coverage period of the battery?

Basic coverage lasts for 5 years or 3,000 cycles (cycle is a full discharge and charge), whichever is shorter.

Is the Travato a true 4 season RV?

Yes! The water lines are inside the coach along with the battery system that is insulated and heated by the Truma Combi G Comfort Plus advanced climate control system providing coach heat and quick hot water recovery with LP and electrical heating with two 850-watt heating elements.
