Winnebago EKKO

The EKKO is not only a power house for rugged adventures, but it is also a comfortable living environment. The full galley will have you cooking up a delicious meal in no time, and the WinnSleep system can turn two twin beds into one queen bed so that you can adjust your sleeping space as needed. You can also add the optional pop-top sleeping area with FROLI sleep system if you want to create even more sleeping space. Each model also has a bathroom for added convenience which means that there is nothing stopping you from packing up and heading out whenever the mood strikes.

Once you have your Winnebago EKKO, it’s time to get ready to pack for your first trip. Before you do so, it is important to know the following weight ratings to ensure you do not “overfill” your new RV.

Unloaded Vehicle Weight Rating – This the weight of the Winnebago EKKO with only a full tank of fuel. This rating may vary based on optional content. It will be approximately 9,500 lbs.

Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) -This is the total weight of all cargo which includes all of your gear, you, and the freshwater tanks full. This is approximately 1,500 lbs on the Winnebago EKKO and will vary by optional content.

The unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity = the EKKOs’ gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). 11,000 lbs.

Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) – This is the absolute maximum weight of the  Winnebago EKKO + any trailer or vehicle towed behind it. GCWR is the unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity+ any towed vehicles (GVWR + any towed vehicles. )15,000 lbs.

Towing Capabilities – The EKKO has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, keep in mind if your RV is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 11,000 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 15,000 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,000 lbs. (GCWR 15,000 – GVWR 11,000.)

Some additional weights you may see if you were to weigh your EKKO are the gross axle weight rating for the front axle and the rear axle which are 4,630 lbs. and 7,275 lbs. respectively.

With the efficiency of a camper van (15-17 MPG highway), the added capacity of a Class C coach, and the enhanced capability of AWD, the EKKO Class C gas motorhome from Winnebago is going to change the way you travel!
