The Winnebago EKKO Class C gas motorhome is ready for all-weather and all-roads with its insulated water service center, extensive all-season insulation, dual-pane acrylic windows, heated exterior storage, and Ford AWD Transit chassis. You can camp almost anywhere in the EKKO. Go off-grid with its 320-amp-hour Lithium Ion battery (with the option of adding an additional 320-amp-hour Lithium Ion battery), a second alternator dedicated to charging the battery, and three solar panels.

The EKKO is not only a power house for rugged adventures, but it is also a comfortable living environment. The full galley will have you cooking up a delicious meal in no time, and the WinnSleep system can turn two twin beds into one queen bed so that you can adjust your sleeping space as needed. You can also add the optional pop-top sleeping area with FROLI sleep system if you want to create even more sleeping space. Each model also has a bathroom for added convenience which means that there is nothing stopping you from packing up and heading out whenever the mood strikes.

Once you have your Winnebago EKKO, it’s time to get ready to pack for your first trip. Before you do so, it is important to know the following weight ratings to ensure you do not “overfill” your new RV.

Winnebago EKKO OCCC

Unloaded Vehicle Weight Rating – This the weight of the Winnebago EKKO with only a full tank of fuel. This rating may vary based on optional content. It will be approximately 9,500 lbs.

Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) -This is the total weight of all cargo which includes all of your gear, you, and the freshwater tanks full. This is approximately 1,500 lbs on the Winnebago EKKO and will vary by optional content.

The unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity = the EKKOs’ gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). 11,000 lbs.

Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) – This is the absolute maximum weight of the  Winnebago EKKO + any trailer or vehicle towed behind it. GCWR is the unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity+ any towed vehicles (GVWR + any towed vehicles. )15,000 lbs.

Towing Capabilities – The EKKO has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, keep in mind if your RV is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 11,000 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 15,000 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,000 lbs. (GCWR 15,000 – GVWR 11,000.)

Some additional weights you may see if you were to weigh your EKKO are the gross axle weight rating for the front axle and the rear axle which are 4,630 lbs. and 7,275 lbs. respectively.

With the efficiency of a camper van (15-17 MPG highway), the added capacity of a Class C coach, and the enhanced capability of AWD, the EKKO Class C gas motorhome from Winnebago is going to change the way you travel!

Winnebago Revel Lithium Ion Battery Use Best Practices

The Revel Class B diesel motorhome by Winnebago allows you to travel down roads others might not even try! This off-road capable camper van is built on the 4WD version of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis with features such as a power lift platform bed that raises up to reveal a spacious gear garage, a cassette-style toilet to minimize weight, and many more innovations giving outdoor enthusiasts so many choices all while going off-road and off-grid. The Winnebago Revel is equipped with (2) 125-amp-hour Lithium ion batteries with a dedicated second alternator to charge the system to extend your off-grid use.

Revel Lithium Ad Photo

The Winnebago Revel’s 125AH Lithium Ion Batteries are the only Made in the USA battery management system. Some key features to this battery include:

  • 25% more capacity than the competition,
  • Ability to crank engines
  • Reserve Capacity = 10% Reserve
  • High and low voltage cut off
  • High and low temperature control
  • Bluetooth Connectivity and App

Listed below you will find best practices maintaining your Winnebago Revel Lithium Ion Batteries.

TURN BATTERIES ON:  The Xantrex battery switch is located above the back of the dinette on the wall. Flashing lights on the panel indicate that the batteries are charging. Depending on the state of the batteries, the lights will flash in different sequences. Rapid flashing indicates the battery is using reserve power and should be re-charged.

CHARGE BATTERY SYSTEM (Driving) – Do not turn the batteries off while vehicle is on. There is a one minute delay between starting the engine and the alternator engaging. The alternator will engage and charge the batteries when they are between 12.8v and 13.1v. The alternator stops charging once the house batteries have shown sustained voltage of 14.2v.

  • Shore power – Make sure the batteries are turned on and plug in to shore power to charge using the 30amp connection on the outside of the coach.
  • Solar – With the batteries on, ensure the solar disconnect switch is turned to the on position. This switch is located between the Xantrex battery switch and the Zamp solar controller on the wall behind the dinette. The 215w Zamp solar panel is a trickle charger to help keep batteries topped off.

DOWNLOAD THE LITHIONICS APP

Search in the App Store or Google Play store “Lithionics Battery Monitor” and download the free app. The batteries can be monitored through the app after being connected via Bluetooth.

INVERTER/CHARGER

The inverter disconnect switch must be turned on to allow the batteries to be charged through shore power. Generally, this switch should remain in the “on” position at all times. The disconnect switch is located on the rear most panel on the driver side in the back of the coach near the floor. To activate the inverter or to use the outlets or A/C, turn the inverter on at the panel located above the solar controller on the wall behind the dinette.

LOW POWER

When the batteries shut down due to low charge, they can be turned back on in “reserve” to operate the coach but should be recharged before they shut down again. Reserve is the last 10% of the batteries’ capacity. Running through the reserve power to shut down again is abusive to the batteries.

COLD WEATHER USE

  • Turning off – If the coach is going to be stored in cold weather, it’s best to have the system charged 50% or more.
  • Temperature of batteries – The batteries are equipped with heating blankets to warm them in cold temperatures. There’s a switch in the battery compartment to turn them on and off. Use this switch to control battery temperatures when in cold weather. The blankets are thermostatically controlled when on. The blankets start heating when the temperature sensor is 35°F and will turn off when it reaches 45°F. Below 0°F, batteries will not charge or discharge. Plug into shore power. Warm the batteries up manually (space heater, park in a heated building, etc). When the batteries warm above 0°F, the heating blankets will take over warming the batteries. Between 0 and 32°F the coach can be operated on battery power, but batteries will not take a charge. Use the heating blankets to warm the batteries above 32°F to resume charging.

The Winnebago Travato and Solis Cummins RV Generator Onan QG 2800i

The Winnebago Travato and the Winnebago Solis each provide a number of great off-grid features, including the generator that is available in select floorplans in each.

Winnebago was the first manufacturer in the industry to use Onan’s new Quiet Generator, which is about 10 decibels quieter than previous models. The Winnebago Travato 59G | 59K and the Winnebago Solis 59PX were the first products in the RV industry to use this revolutionary new generator.

Some RVers may choose Lithium for its quiet performance, for those that are conscientious about your impact on the environment yet don’t want to make the investment in Lithium, the Quiet Onan 2800i Generator is a great option.

Top Ten Questions about Financing your RV Purchase at Lichtsinn RV

At Lichtsinn RV we have the knowledge and experience to help guide you through your purchase of a new or pre-owned RV.  In the United States, 70 to 80 percent of the 11 million households that currently own an RV have a loan.  We’ve prepared a list of the top ten questions about “financing your RV” that we get here at Lichtsinn RV.

finance

How does the process work?

Most guests call us to complete a credit application over the phone.  It takes about five to ten minutes to complete verbally.   Alternatively, you can complete our online credit application on our secure website or you can also visit us in person.  Usually credit decisions take a day or less.   We work with trusted industry lenders that offer RV specific terms and rate advantages.

How do RV loans work?

Unlike traditional automobile loans and mortgages, RV rates are typically lower for longer term loans.   Most guests opt for a fixed rate twenty-year loan. This provides a lower monthly payment while still providing the flexibility to pay the loan off at any time with no penalty.  We will do whatever we can to help you get the monthly payment and loan term that best suits your budget.

Why should I finance my RV at Lichtsinn RV?

We work with many national lenders who are competing against each other to provide our guests the most competitive rates. We also handle the whole process for our guests saving time and money! Our lenders are also using only your RV as collateral while some banks and credit unions will ask for other items such as CD’s, investment and even your home. Our goal is to make this process as seamless and easy for our guests as possible while working to help obtain competitive rates!

Are there fees or closing costs?

All of our loans carry no fees at closing, no closing costs and no points.

What are my payment options?

We offer both monthly and bi-weekly payment options.  The bi-weekly payment option can help shorten your term and save you thousands of dollars.

Are there pre-payment penalties?

There are no prepayment penalties and so you can pay extra each month or pay the whole RV off in a lump sum in the future if you choose.

Which lenders do you use?

We work with several lenders across the country to bring you the most competitive and flexible financing options available.   We have partnerships with Bank of America, US Bank, Bank of the West, Huntington Bank and several other major lenders.   We allow them to compete to help get you the lowest rate.

How much money do I need to put down?

Most of our lenders are currently requiring 10% down for RV financing.  There are 0% down options for some well-qualified customers.  Keep in mind that the more you put down the lower your payments will be and you’ll end up paying less in interest over the term of your loan.

Do I need to put my home up for collateral?

The only collateral you’re using to secure a loan at Lichtsinn RV is the RV itself.    You will not need to put up your home for collateral.

Can I deduct the interest on my RV loan?

Yes, in many cases.  According to the RV industry association, under the U.S. tax code, RV buyers can deduct the interest on certain loans used to purchase RVs as a mortgage on a second home. RVs qualify for a second home mortgage interest deduction because they are a popular weekend and vacation ‘home’ for middle-class Americans.

The 5 Most Common Questions When Buying an RV

Top Ten Questions about Insuring your RV at Lichtsinn RV

We know that a purchasing an RV is one of the biggest and important investments people make.   To keep that investment safe and secure we offer insurance for your RV right here at Lichtsinn RV.  Insuring your RV has never been easier!

insurance

Why should I get my insurance at Lichtsinn RV?

Our business managers are licensed personal lines agents for a variety of companies that specialize in RV insurance.  They work insuring people for RVs on a daily basis.  They can ensure you get the right coverages for your needs.

What is total loss replacement coverage?

In the unfortunate circumstance your RV becomes a total loss most auto insurance companies are going to only cover actual cash value.  We offer policies with Total Loss Replacement Coverage which will pay you what it costs to replace your RV with a new one.

Does my insurance cover international travel?

If you travel north to Canada you’ll be covered, but if you plan on traveling to Mexico you’ll need to purchase Mexican liability coverage before crossing the border.  Your comprehensive insurance will still be in place but you need that extra coverage when traveling to Mexico and other south-of-the-border destinations.

Does insurance cover rock chips on my windshield?

RV windshields can be expensive- especially on Class A motorcoaches.    Many of the policies we’re able to write offer a zero dollar windshield deductible that can save you the expense of replacing your windshield.

How much will insurance cost?

The cost depends a great deal on what kind of RV you are insuring but most of the policies we write average $1200 a year.

Why is RV insurance so affordable?

One of the big things that insurance companies are going to ask you when you’re doing your quote is how many miles a year are you driving or how many days each year are you using it.  Generally, most of our guests are going to use their RV between 30 and 150 days a year.    This results in a lower rate than you might expect.

Which companies do you work with?

We work with a variety of companies including Progressive, Nationwide, National General and Safeco.

Can I turn off my coverage while my RV is in storage?

We work with carriers who will allow you to take off coverage while your RV is in storage however we also work with carriers who rate the policy based on the number of days your planning to use the RV which eliminates the need for you to take coverage off and you won’t have to remember to put coverage back on before using your RV!

Who do I contact with a claim?

We will provide insurance identification cards when we finalize the insurance policy and the claims numbers are listed on the card.  You can also always call us here at the dealership and we would be happy to help file the claim with you directly with the carrier.

Is roadside assistance available through my policy?

All of our carriers offer roadside assistance which can be an option added to your insurance policy.

Picking up your brand-new Winnebago motorhome is a day filled with excitement and wonder as you explore and test every component, part and gadget in your RV. After you wrap up your day at the dealership, the sales person hands you the keys to your new rig and you are off to enjoy your first night in your RV. As you hit the open road, you look down and realize your brand-new Winnebago already has 1,000+ miles on it… But how is that possible if the Winnebago is new? RVs are too big to be transported using semis, so RV manufacturers hire drivers to drive an RV from where it is built to the dealer. So, your RV will arrive with hundreds to thousands of miles on the engine and who knows what else…

A dealer that is more geographically proximate to you might not tell you about how crucial the first 1,000 miles is for engine break-in because your Winnebago could arrive with 1,000 miles or more on it before you even step foot inside the coach. The chassis manufacturers have recommendations for breaking in the engine. When you purchase from Lichtsinn RV you can control the critical break-in period and not leave it up to a delivery driver towing their personal vehicle across the country.

Debunking RV Buying Myths – How Lichtsinn RV is Different From the Rest

At Lichtsinn RV, we encounter guests that either have previously bought or spoken to another an RV dealer or have heard horror stories from family members or friends who had a negative experience buying from another dealer.

Here at Lichtsinn RV, we are different, but don’t take our word for it. Read our hundreds of guest reviews on Facebook and Google to see what our guests thought of purchasing at Lichtsinn RV.

We wanted to debunk some common myths about buying RVs that we have heard from guests who have previously spoken or bought from another dealer.

Myth #1: The salesperson doesn’t know anything about the product I am looking at.

The Reality at Lichtsinn RV: The Lichtsinn RV team has the Winnebago-Specific Product Knowledge to Assist you in the Sales and Service Process.

Lichtsinn RV FAQs: Can I Purchase My RV Online from Lichtsinn RV?

Winnebago Revel OCCC, GVWR, GCWR and More

The Winnebago Revel showcases boundless freedom. Built on the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter chassis the Revel combines function-fueled design, powered by the reliability of a 3-liter turbo diesel engine and the freedom of on-demand 4WD. The Winnebago Revel performance means going off-road is never off the table.

The Revel’s dependable diesel-powered VS30 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis allows you to stay in control, even when off-grid. The Winnebago Revel allows you to stay off-grid longer and more comfortably with two 125-amp hour LiFePO batteries you can monitor via Bluetooth.®   And the new Hydronic Heating System provides comfortable, quiet heating, controlled by a user-friendly LED touchscreen panel.

Once you have your Winnebago Revel, it’s time to get ready to pack for your first adventure. Before you do so, it is important to know the following weight ratings to ensure you do not “overfill” your new Revel.

Revel OCCC

Unloaded Vehicle Weight Rating – This the weight of the Revel with only a full tank of diesel fuel. This rating may vary based on optional content. It will be approximately 7,294 lbs.

Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) -This is the total weight of all cargo which includes all of your gear, you, and the freshwater tanks full. This is approximately 1,756 on the Winnebago Revel.

The unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity = the Revels’ gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). 9,050 lbs.

Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) – This is the absolute maximum weight of the  Winnebago Revel + any trailer or vehicle towed behind it. GCWR is the unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity+ any towed vehicles (GVWR + any towed vehicles. )13,550 lbs.

Towing Capabilities – The Revel has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, keep in mind if your RV is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 9,050 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 13,550 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,500 lbs. (GCWR 13,550 – GVWR 9,050.)

Some additional weights you may see if you were to weigh your Revel is the gross axle weight rating for the front axle and the rear axle which are 4,101 lbs. and 5,360 lbs. respectively.

Tips for Finding a Reputable RV Dealer: Online Reviews

So you have decided that the RV lifestyle is for you and now you have begun researching the perfect RV for your needs. A lot of buyers think the research process ends when you find the perfect RV, but there is another important step that many people forget… finding the perfect RV dealer to work with. Buyers will want to invest just as much time if not more, in researching RV dealers to make sure they find a reputable dealer to work with.

“There is another important step that many people forget… finding the perfect RV dealer to work with.”

Let’s face it, there are a lot of lousy RV dealerships out there. Unfortunately, in the race to find the lowest possible RV price, many people choose to buy from dealers who do not have a track record of great customer service and outstanding RV repair. Know in advance that the lowest price is not usually synonymous with the best reputation. In our blog series we will cover what you should be looking for in your RV Dealer.

Gary Teska

Online Reviews – In the past, buyers had to rely on who they knew to find out whether or not an RV dealer was reputable. Now with Google Reviews and Facebook recommendations more customers can read about other customer’s experiences with the dealer. You will want to make sure to read third-party reviews like the ones on Facebook and Google because dealers are not able to remove negative reviews like reviews featured on their sites. When customers take the time to leave a review of a business typically it is because they had a wonderful experience or a not so wonderful experience. When you read through several reviews you will start to see patterns about their sales people, the service department and more. We have seen larger “super-store” type dealers remove reviews from their Facebook page so potential buyers can’t read what their customers are saying about them. At Lichtsinn RV, we ask all of our guests to leave us reviews or recommendations we want to know how we can make our guests’ experience the best it can be. Because after all, we want our guests to Experience the Best at Lichtsinn RV!

You can read our Google Reviews here and our Facebook reviews here.

The RV buying process is a lengthy, but exciting process and finding the perfect dealer to work with makes the experience that much more enjoyable.
