Winnebago Revel OCCC, GVWR, GCWR and More

The Winnebago Revel showcases boundless freedom. Built on the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter chassis the Revel combines function-fueled design, powered by the reliability of a 3-liter turbo diesel engine and the freedom of on-demand 4WD. The Winnebago Revel performance means going off-road is never off the table.

The Revel’s dependable diesel-powered VS30 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis allows you to stay in control, even when off-grid. The Winnebago Revel allows you to stay off-grid longer and more comfortably with two 125-amp hour LiFePO batteries you can monitor via Bluetooth.®   And the new Hydronic Heating System provides comfortable, quiet heating, controlled by a user-friendly LED touchscreen panel.

Once you have your Winnebago Revel, it’s time to get ready to pack for your first adventure. Before you do so, it is important to know the following weight ratings to ensure you do not “overfill” your new Revel.

Revel OCCC

Unloaded Vehicle Weight Rating – This the weight of the Revel with only a full tank of diesel fuel. This rating may vary based on optional content. It will be approximately 7,294 lbs.

Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC) -This is the total weight of all cargo which includes all of your gear, you, and the freshwater tanks full. This is approximately 1,756 on the Winnebago Revel.

The unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity = the Revels’ gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). 9,050 lbs.

Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) – This is the absolute maximum weight of the  Winnebago Revel + any trailer or vehicle towed behind it. GCWR is the unloaded vehicle weight rating + the occupant and cargo carrying capacity+ any towed vehicles (GVWR + any towed vehicles. )13,550 lbs.

Towing Capabilities – The Revel has a factory installed 5,000 lb. tow package. However, keep in mind if your RV is fully loaded, using all of your OCCC, up to a full GVWR of 9,050 lbs. that you are still limited to the GCWR of 13,550 lbs. So, your trailer or towed vehicle should not exceed 4,500 lbs. (GCWR 13,550 – GVWR 9,050.)

Some additional weights you may see if you were to weigh your Revel is the gross axle weight rating for the front axle and the rear axle which are 4,101 lbs. and 5,360 lbs. respectively.

Top 10 Reasons to Buy a Winnebago Class B Camper Van

This month we are going to focus on Winnebago Class B Camper Vans. The Class B Camper Van market continues to grow and offers a number of different options for those looking to go where they want, when they want, in an RV.  Class B motorhomes are compact and smaller in stature compared to traditional Class A and Class C Motorhomes. Class B’s are also larger and taller than a typical full-sized van allowing space within the Class B RV for living, sleeping and often even a wet bath. Winnebago offers a number of Class B vans with both diesel and gas chassis.

Class B Top 10

There are a number of reasons people choose a Class B Camper Van. See the Top 10 reasons people choose a Winnebago Class B RV below:

WINNEBAGO CLASS B RVS

  • Go where you want when you want to. Class B’s are easy to maneuver whether you are in the big city or wide open country.
  • Easy to Drive. Class B Camper Vans handle much like a family vehicle.
  • Allowed in many HOA’s (Home Owner Associations.) A Class B RV may be allowed in your HOA while most Class C, Class A and towable RVs are not.
  • Full Living Amenities. Although Class B Camper Vans are compact, Winnebago Class B RVs feature all the amenities of home including a kitchen, sleeping area and bath area.
  • High Fuel Efficiencies. Winnebago Class B Vans achieve between 16-22 MPG highway, similar to your family vehicle.
  • Simplifies Travel. A Class B RV is compact, so you are limited on what you can bring with you so you can travel light.
  • Favorite for those with Active Lifestyles. Class B Motorhomes have dual rear entry doors, and it easy to take your gear in and out of the rear of the coach. Some Class B’s like the Winnebago Travato G/GL and the Winnebago Revel have ample room to put your large gear (i.e. a bicycle) in the rear of the coach.
  • Doesn’t require a lot of set up and take down. A Class B Van has little to set up outside of the coach and does not require leveling jacks, so set up and take down are a snap. You can just park your RV, put out your awning (if applicable) and you are ready to head out for a day of adventure.
  • Great for Day Trips and Special Events. Even if you are just using your Class B RV for the day (i.e. tailgating before the big game) a Winnebago Class B allows you to bring your own snacks and beverages, bathroom and you can charge your phones and tablets while you take a quick nap.
  • Among the Safest RVs on the Road. A Winnebago Class B Van is built on a standard van chassis that includes many of the safety features you are used to in your family vehicle such as seatbelts in the living area, reinforced sidewalls and premium insulation.

Winnebago Class B Touring Coach Motorhomes offer all the versatility and comforts of home in an agile ride with impressive fuel efficiency, Call a Lichtsinn RV Sales consultant today to find out more about Winnebago Class B Camper Vans.

The Winnebago Revel now has the fresh water tanks stored inside the coach and a heated/insulated gray water tank. The Revel has a cassette toilet, so you will not have to worry about a black water tank.

Reviewing Winnebago’s Campervan Lineup

As new and seasoned RVers flock to America’s highways and campgrounds, Winnebago’s best-selling Class B Vans are leading the pack. As the largest Winnebago dealer in North America, we receive a lot of questions on the differences between Winnebago’s popular campervan lineup. Winnebago’s current Class B-Van lineup includes the Solis, Travato, Revel, Era and Boldt. In this video we will compare the specs and features on each of the five models.

Watch our video reviewing Winnebago’s Campervan LineupSOLIS HEADER

First, we have the Winnebago Solis. The Solis is a highly adaptable and affordable adventure vehicle built on the gasoline-powered RAM ProMaster chassis. The Solis is available in two floorplans – the 59P and the 59PX. The 59PX is built on the extended RAM ProMaster chassis allowing for a gear garage and room for an air conditioner on top of the unit. Both the 59P and 59PX feature an optional pop-up roof top, flexible seating options, solar panels expanding up to 520-watts, a simplified water system and premium insulation. The Winnebago Solis offers comfortable sleeping for four people, between the rear Murphy+ bed and the pop top and offers 3-point seat belts for 4 people.

Winnebago Travato

Next, the Winnebago Travato. The extremely popular Winnebago Travato has been at the forefront of the vanlife movement for the last 7 years. The Travato is built on the gasoline-powered RAM ProMaster chassis and available in 4 floorplans – the 59G, 59GL, 59K, and 59KL.  The 59G and 59GL have been redesigned based on extensive voice-of-customer research. Winnebago removed the passenger side bench seat and added two automotive-grade seats with 3-point seatbelts and a dinette table. The 59G and 59GL also feature the innovative WinnSleep system that combines a comfortable, hygienic foam mattress with a European suspension system to increase comfort. The 59K and 59KL feature several upgrades for improved usability including a slideout galley extension, the new WinnSleep system, pop-up power outlets, and a reconfigured wardrobe to maximize storage. The Pure3 lithium system in the 59GL and 59KL features a 3-module lithium-ion energy pack with a new optional fourth battery bringing the usable watt-hours to 12,800 versus 9,600. The Pure3 Energy management system comes with a 3,600-watt inverter and 230-watts of solar with the option for expansion. Winnebago used extensive voice-of-customer research to redesign America’s most popular campervan with cutting-edge technology and features to improve guests’ experience.

Moving from campervans built on the RAM ProMaster chassis, we will review Winnebago’s campervans built on the diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis.

REVEL

First, we have the Winnebago Revel. The 4×4 Revel has a function-fueled design with the freedom of 4WD to go off-road and off-the-grid. The Revel is available in one floorplan, the 44E. The Revel has features that allow owners to stay off-the-grid longer and live comfortably including: ergonomic comfort, easy-to-maintain surfaces, exterior flexibility, a rear bed that is on a power lift for sleeping at night and space for gear during the day. The Revel is now lithium equipped with the Lithionics 125 Amp Hour dual lithium batteries, providing 1,600-watt hours of energy per battery or 3,200-watt hours total. The Revel comes with a 2,000-watt inverter and a solar panel with charger. The Revel is the shortest of all of Winnebago’s campervans and has the highest ground clearance for exceptional off-road capabilities.

ERA HEADER

The next campervan in Winnebago’s lineup is the Winnebago Era – the original Winnebago campervan. The Era is designed to be reliable and powerful with on or off-road capabilities and premium interior styling. The Era is available with the optional 4WD Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis or the standard rear wheel drive Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The Era is available in three floorplans – the 70A, 70B, and 70X. The Era comes with a chef-friendly kitchen with elegant Corian countertops, a two or three burner cooktop with glass cover, microwave or microwave-convection oven, stainless steel sink, and compressor-driven refrigerator. The Era provides the most spacious Class B van from Winnebago measuring at 24 feet long.

Winnebago Boldt

Finally, we have the Winnebago Boldt. The Winnebago Boldt is the epitome of stealth, off-the-grid campervans. The Boldt is built on the diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis with the option of a 4WD chassis. The Boldt pairs the Pure3 Energy Management System with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 chassis providing owners with a generator-free RV. The Pure3 Energy Management system in the Boldt features a 48-volt energy pack providing 12,800 watt-hours of energy. This allows for complete 30-amp coach electricity using a 3,600-watt pure sine wave inverter. The Pure3 system is charged by the 58-volt second alternator or underhood generator and the 2 115-watt solar panels with battery charger. The Boldt is available in the 70BL and 70KL floorplan. The key differences in the floorplans are the bathroom location (rear bathroom in the KL and midcoach bath in the BL) and the 70BL can sleep 3 while the 70KL can sleep 2. The Boldt is all-season ready with best-in-class insulation, in-coach water lines and the Truma Combi Eco Plus heating.
