Based on the powerful, fuel efficient ProMaster chassis, the Travato has been at the forefront of the van life revolution since its launch. Estimated to achieve 18 to 22 mpg highway, at only 21 feet long the Travato offers all of the comforts of home in a nimble, efficient van.

The Pure 3 Volta Power Systems automotive grade 48V energy pack provides 8,700 watt hours, nearly double that of Roadtrek and more than Coachmen. The energy pack is watertight, durable with the steel housing being the safest on the market, and batteries are climate controlled.

The Pure 3 provides complete 30 AMP whole coach electricity using a 3,600 watt pure sine inverter. The Travato’s dedicated 58 volt alternator, or under hood generator, is twice as powerful as competitors. Its compact design keeps it out of the way of curbs and road debris and the auto start and high idle control significantly extends air conditioner run time.

The MPPT solar controller provides best in class solar absorption, up to 30 percent better than competitors, giving you more off the grid performance.

Simple, seamless operation with one touch button controls incorporate automatic engine start when the battery is low and can recharge a fully depleted system in approximately 1.4 hours.

Winnebago Earns Ram Quality Membership

The FCA Commercial Vehicle Team has designated Winnebago Motorhomes, Forest City, Iowa,  as a member of the Ram Quality Professional Program.

As a qualified member of the Q-Pro program, Winnebago is joining a select group of upfitters and body manufacturers dedicated to exceeding customer’s expectations for quality, reliability and dependability. Winnebago is the first RV manufacturer to earn this designation.

To become a qualified member of the Q-Pro Program, FCA engineers evaluated Winnebago’s processes related to quality, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. This involved an on-site visit by FCA’s team to validate that Winnebago’s processes met and exceeded the criteria in the three evaluation areas.

“At Winnebago, we strive to provide a superior product to our customers by doing things the right way,” said Brian Hazelton, vice president and general manager – Motorhome Business. “We work closely with suppliers to maintain the integrity of purchased components in order to ensure quality in the finished product. By following these guidelines, we believe it has allowed us to excel and become the first RV manufacturer to be named a member of the Q-Pro Program. Quality continues to be a priority for us as we work to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and help create extraordinary experiences in the outdoors.”

Winnebago builds the Travato on the Ram ProMaster chassis. Since its launch in 2014, the Travato has been at the forefront of the campervan revolution. The latest evolution in the Travato lineup is the 59KL and 59GL, which features the Pure3 Energy Management System. This durable and easy-to-use lithium energy system allows RVers to “cut the cord” and replenishes power to the coach through multiple charging options.

Top 10 Safety Features in the Winnebago Travato

In the Winnebago Travato there are over 35 active and passive safety enhancements in the RAM ProMaster chassis. We listed our top 10 safety features in the 2019 Winnebago Travato.

WATCH OUR VIDEO ON THE TOP 10 SAFETY FEATURES IN THE WINNEBAGO TRAVATO

  1. High Mount Headlamps – the Travato is built on the Ram Promaster Chassis which is modeled after the European Fiat chassis. A major style and safety benefit in the Promaster chassis is the headlamps that are mounted above the grill. These headlights will provide better visibility on the open road, and in case of an accident, the location of the headlights should minimize repair costs.
  2. Crumple Zones – These zones are built into the chassis and act as an impact absorbent and are designed into the front axle and front end of the chassis. They are designed to absorb the energy during an impact, so the passengers are not affected by the crash.
  3. Airbag Safety – The Travato has three different sets of airbags including dual front airbags, dual side curtain airbags, and side seat bolster airbags (available in both cloth and leather). The Travato has the most airbags of any RV.
  4. Seat Belt Pretensioners – With the six airbags, seat belt pretensioners are built in. The pretensioner mechanism detects the signature abrupt deceleration of an accident. In turn, the seatbelt pretensioner mechanism rapidly drives the spool around which the fabric strap of a seatbelt is wrapped. That incredibly fast retraction of the belt fabric removes the slack from the belt instantly. This extra seatbelt “pre-” tension, moments prior to the full force of impact, pulls the bodies of the driver and front-seat passenger firmly into their seats.
  5. Knee Bolsters – In conjunction with the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners the knee bolsters in the cab area keep the occupant in the correct upright position in an accident so the airbags can properly protect the occupants.
  6. Uconnect with Tom Tom GPS – The Uconnect system with Tom Tom GPS provides users hands free calling and voice guidance while navigating. This system allows for the driver to be completely focused on driving and not distracted by calls or using the GPS.
  7. Rearview Camera – The rearview camera in the Travato aids drivers when backing up with its wide angle it also provides color coding based on how far away you are from a potential hazard.
  8. Electronic Stability Control – The system will reconcile the turning path of your steering column by adjusting individual brake pressure and the vehicle’s throttle control to maintain the steering path observed by the vehicle.
  9. Four Wheel ABS – The Winnebago Travato has four-wheel anti-lock brakes just like your light duty truck or SUV.
  10. Tire Pressure Monitoring System – The TPMS is integrated into your front dash and will give you the real time tire pressure levels so you can prevent a flat.

Winnebago Travato Pure3 Energy Management System vs. Coachmen Galleria Li3

When comparing the available power, we are looking at power off the pure sine wave inverter. This tells how many amps users will get without being hooked up to shore power. The Winnebago Travato 59KL and 59GL provides 30 amps of available power, without being plugged into shore power, while the Coachmen Galleria Li3 provides 25 amps of power. In the Travato, you will always be traveling with full 30 amp of service off the extremely powerful 3600-watt pure sine wave inverter. If you are looking to boondock, the Coachmen Galleria Li3 is not going to be able to power your electronics and appliances for as long as the Winnebago Travato with the Pure3 Energy Management System.Winnebago Travato 59GL and 59KL

Voltage: When looking at voltage, were comparing the Travato 59KL/GL’s second alternator to the Coachmen Galleria Li3’s second alternator or as they refer to it – “the underhood generator.” The Coachmen Galleria Li3’s second alternator is a 12 volt while the Travato 59KL and 59GL with the Pure3 Energy Management System has a 58-volt second alternator. The Travato’s second alternator has an extremely compact design that keeps it out of the way of curbs and road debris.

Energy: Comparing Winnebago’s Pure3 Energy Management System’s energy capacity to the Coachmen Galleria Li3 reveals a rather large discrepancy between the two. The the Coachmen Galleria Li3 provides 7,200 watt-hours while the Winnebago Pure3 Energy Management System provides 8,700 watt-hours.

You might be wondering if watt-hours are really that important? Yes, they absolutely are. A Watt Hour is a unit of measurement for power over a period of time, in our case an hour, and is a way of measuring capacity. One watt-hour is equal to one Watt of average power flow over an hour, so one Watt over 10 hours would be 10-Watt Hours. Volta, the company that partnered with Winnebago to build the Pure3 system, has a power calculator on their website and showed what the run times for the Pure3 System would be. If you were boondocking (not hooked up to shore power) and you were not collecting any energy from your solar panels and you wanted to run your air conditioner all day (at 50% duty cycle), run your compressor refrigerator all day (at 50% duty cycle), binge watch your favorite show on your big screen HDTV for six hours and have every single light in your coach on you would have to recharge in 7.3 hours.

Charging Power and Time: Time is of the essence for RVers needing to charge their lithium system. Both the Coachmen Galleria Li3 and the Winnebago Pure3 Energy Management Systems will recharge from the second alternator. If you recall, the Coachmen Galleria Li3 has a a 12-Volt alternator while the Pure3 has a 58-Volt alternator. The Pure3 Energy Management System can also completely recharge the battery approximately 90 minutes while the recharging time of Coachmen Galleria Li3 is over 2 hours and 42 minutes.

Lithium Ion Type and Life: With top performance and safety as uncompromising goals, Winnebago and Volta developed a  plug-n-play scalable system using high-density, nickel manganese cobalt batteries. These outperform “consumer-grade” lithium ion competitors with about two times the effective storage and take up one third the space of AGM lead acid batteries. What’s more, they’ll last the lifetime of a vehicle, service anywhere and can withstand cold storage.

Under 200-lbs. the Travato’s Pure3 Energy Management System three-module, automotive-grade energy pack providing 8,700 Whrs. The energy pack is watertight and durable, the steel housing is the safest on the market. The Coachmen Galleria Li3 is a consumer-grade lithium ion battery with far less storage capacity as the Travato’s.  The Pure3 Energy Management System lasts the lifetime of the vehicle and has been tested. Its expected life is 10 years/2000 cycles at 80%. The expected life of the Coachmen Galleria Li3 is unknown.

Warranty: The lithium ion system but the Travato’s Pure3 Energy Management System has an industry-leading 8-year warranty on the battery which was designed to last a lifetime. While the Coachmen Galleria Li3 warranty is significantly less at 3-years.

Winnebago’s new Pure3 Energy Management System is an industry leader and is superior to the Coachmen Galleria Li3. See our entire Travato inventory and learn more about the Winnebago Travato here.

The Winnebago Travato- New Interior Colors

Based on the powerful, fuel efficient ProMaster chassis, the Travato has been at the forefront of the van life revolution since its launch.  Estimated to achieve 18 to 22 mpg highway, at only 21 feet long the Travato offers all of the comforts of home in a nimble, efficient van. Recently, Winnebago introduced two new interior colors for the 2019 Travato, Bleu and Mecca with the Macchiato and Nocé wood choices.

Travato Pure3 Energy Management System Power Calculator

The Pure 3 Volta Power Systems automotive grade 48V energy pack provides 8,700-watt hours, nearly double that of Roadtrek and more than Coachmen.  The energy pack is watertight, durable with the steel housing being the safest on the market, and batteries are climate controlled.

The Pure 3 provides complete 30 AMP whole coach electricity using a 3,600-watt pure sine inverter. The Travato’s dedicated 58-volt alternator, or under hood generator, is twice as powerful as competitors. Volta Power Systems, the manufacturer of the power system has a power calculator on their website if you are looking to see what systems you can run on the Pure3 Energy Pack and for how long. According to the calculator, you can run the air conditioner (all-day at 50% duty cycle), a midsize refrigerator (all-day at 50% duty cycle), a Big Screen LED TV for 6 hours, all of the LED Lights in the coach, an electric water heater (all day at 2% duty cycle) and a microwave for 10 minutes and it would take 10.51 hours before you would need to recharge. This also assumes no recharging during the day form solar, auto start, or plugging in.

You can see the Volta Power Calculator here and you can learn more about the Winnebago Travato 59GL and 59KL with the Pure3 Energy Management System here.

Winnebago Travato European Cassette Shades

A new feature in the 2019 Winnebago Travato is the all-new European cassette blind system now replaces the MCD blackout shades. It is available with the glass windows or the dual-pane acrylic windows and includes the insect screen for fresh air ventilation and the solar privacy shades with a solar reflective material that assists with insulation. These windows allow for you to leave them in different positions in transit without the possibility of the noise that the MCD shades made when traveling.

Winnebago Travato Bamboo Shower Mat

Another great feature in the 2019 Winnebago Travato 59G and 59K is the bamboo shower mat. This mat is made from a sealed marine-grade plywood so it will withhold all of the water in the shower area and it provides a spa-like appearance in a nimble, efficient van.
