The Next Generation 2022 Winnebago Travato

The next generation fuel efficient Winnebago Travato has been restyled and reengineered based on voice of customer feedback of the VanLife and social media communities. The Travato has been the top-selling Camper Van in North America for several reasons…its energy and fuel-efficient systems make the most of the Travato’s ample power. Streamlined features are designed to keep you traveling even when the elements – and the road – are less forgiving.

Travato Next Generation

The next generation fuel efficient Travato will be built atop the new 2021 safety enhanced Ram Promaster chassis, including:

  • Crosswind assist provides counter steering automatically to maintain a straight path in high wind conditions
  • Blind spot monitoring with cross path detection
  • The Digital Rearview Mirror features an LCD monitor that can be turned off to revert to a reflective mirror and when switched on offers a real-time video stream

The next generation Winnebago Travato built atop the new Ram Promaster chassis will also feature enhanced creature comforts with improved connectivity and functionality with the new Pioneer 7 in multimedia video receiver, which includes the addition of SiriusXM radio with receiver and antenna. Advantages of this new multimedia video receiver include:

  • Large 7″ WVGA Touchscreen Display is easier to see, read and operate
  • Back up camera provides wider and clearer view and can be left on to allow continuous rear view monitoring
  • Enhanced smartphone connectivity — compatible with Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and WebLink™ — allows users to utilize smartphone navigation features
  • Hands-free calling and audio streaming with built-in Bluetooth® (HPP) for exceptional clarity, and a secondary microphone for improved voice control with additional functionality
  • Refined user interface for a simple and smooth user experience
  • Selectable display shows additional engine data, such as coolant temperature, as well as tire pressure monitoring (shows actual tire pressure, not just a simple indicator light)
  • Steering wheel functionality includes volume control, mute, station change and scan function for radio, and more

Restyling the inside of the Travato provides for three all new cabinetry collections… the Bleu soft goods collection can now be paired with Walnut Tecnoform cabinetry, Walnut Tecnoform cabinetry with matte white upper cabinets or Weather Teak Tecnoform cabinetry.  The investment made with Tecnoform Italian Yacht cabinetry provides for cabinets that resist humidity and are lightweight to free up cargo carry capacity.

Also, all new contemporary flooring is laid atop the Plasticore insulated flooring and includes an option for a removable easy to clean removable full coach mat.

Both floorplans include the all new Winnsleep mattress, which is firm, yet includes a more plush topper and to the rear feature insulated easier to use rear cargo door shades similar to that used in the Winnebago Solis.

A wireless soundbar takes advantage of Bluetooth connectivity to personalize your audio experience inside the Van.

The 59G and 59GL floorplans have been redesigned in the next generation Travato:

  • The front side facing bench has been removed and the freshwater tank and inverter relocated to provide easier entry and exit, with a Lagun table mount that can be used for the passenger seat when swiveled as a lounge chair
  • The forward facing bench has been replaced with dual 3 point safety belted automotive styled seats
  • The TV has been relocated to the rear wall to allow for viewing from the front cab seats when swiveled
  • The dinette has been replaced with a movable Lagun table
  • The rear full bed has been replaced with a murphy style bed with a European slat bed and widened at the rearward position with a new tapered bath in one that provides more livability the aft position of the murphy bed

The 59K and 59KL floorplans now include:

  • A lagun table that can be used when the passenger seat is swiveled
  • The twin bed flex bed conversion kit that simply pulls out from the driver side twin bed to provide quick conversion from twin beds to an oversized single flex bed
  • The Eco Hot hot loop purge will save freshwater by recirculating water to the hot side of the faucet prior to usage, and emptying back into the same freshwater tank

Winnebago Travato 59GL and 59KL

For those truly going off grid, the Pure3 lithium equipped 59GL and 59KL will now have the option to include the 4th battery cell module from Volta power systems, increasing usable watt hours of energy from 9.500 to 12,800.

Winnebago Travato 59G and 59K

The 59G and 59K nonlithium models will include the all new, ultra low quiet CumminsOnan 2800i generator. Advantages of this generator include:

  • Complies with National Park Regulations 60 db at 50 ft
  • 65 db at 10 ft db reading
    1. Generally every 10 meters it drops about 6db
    2. Would reasonable expect 58-59 at 40′
  • Accomplishes this by running at 2445 rpm vs 3600 in prior models
  • More fuel efficient
    1. Nearly 40%
    2. .21 gal at half load vs .34, so about 5 hours of continual run operation 1 gallon of fuel
  • Lighter with the same footprint, slightly taller

Why Buy from Lichtsinn RV – Online Buying Experience

4-Season Features in the Winnebago Travato

The Winnebago Travato was built for four season adventure! Spring to Winter, the Travato has features that help you make the most of your van regardless of the time of year. Read about some of the key features that enable your adventures year-round!

Truma Combi Eco Plus Heating System – The Truma Combi Eco Plus heating system is a furnace and water heater in one. In the summer, you can run it as just a water heater, but in cooler climates you can run both the furnace and the water heater. The Truma Combi heater is almost silent, economical to run, and will keep your van comfortable during cooler temperatures.

Above-floor waterlines – By keeping the waterlines above the floor, you can use them for longer as they will keep warmer than being exposed underneath the coach. The Travato now features improved insulation in the floors and that paired with the Truma Combi Eco Plus system will keep your lines warm in cooler temperatures.

Heated tanks – To accompany the above-floor waterlines, the Travato includes heated drainage tanks. With the heated tanks, Travato owners will not have to worry that the contents in their drainage tanks will freeze.

Upgraded Roof and Sidewall Insulation – Winnebago added upgraded, automotive-grade foam insulation in the roof and the walls for improved thermal control and sound reduction while traveling in your Winnebago Travato.

Coleman-Mach 10 NDQ AC – In warmer climates, the Coleman-Mach 10 NDQ air conditioner is a high-efficiency and quiet air conditioner that will keep your coach cool. This A/C has a built-in thermostat and significantly reduces power draw compared to previous models.

Roll-up Rear and Side Screen Doors – The Winnebago Travato comes with the roll-up rear and side screen doors. This screen door is incredibly sturdy and allows for users to circulate air through their coach without fear of insects entering or pets and children escaping. The screen door is held in place by a strong magnetic closure.

4 Hidden Places to Find Extra Storage in Your RV

Post originally seen on DoItYourselfRV.com

Most of us have a lack of imagination when it comes to how we use our homes, and this extends into the world of RVs as well. We tend to accept the storage we’re given, and outside of purchasing shelving or containers, we don’t get very creative when it comes to where to put our things.

In an RV, this can lead to over-crowded drawers and important gear that cannot be found until after an alternative has already been used. Here are four under-utilized areas that can make great storage when coupled with the right hardware!

  1. On the Inside of Doors – Wall space for hanging items is always at a premium inside an RV, but there are likely multiple areas that represent several square feet each on the back of every room door and cabinet door inside your motorhome or travel trailer. Whether you choose a pocket caddy for your shower goodies on the bathroom door or Command adhesive hooks from 3M for utensils inside the kitchen cupboard, there are a variety of tools at your disposal. One really cool idea I like is a trash can that mounts to the inside of your under-sink cupboard! Homemade Door Storage for Bug Spray and Flip-Flops – You might also make your own inside-the-door storage area from some wooden furring strips and bug mesh. Maybe you have some spare trim laying around the garage or in the basement? Cut it to length and screw a few pieces into the wood on the back of the door. Then take some mesh and tack it underneath to form a handy and sturdy storage pocket.
  2. Make Use of Your Ceilings – Depending on how your RV is constructed, you can use screw in or adhesive hangers to mount items up and out of the way, but still close enough to get to when needed. The ceiling of a utility space is great for hanging brooms, mops, and other long items such as fishing poles. Over-the-sink hanging baskets can provide great travel-safe storage for produce or other small kitchen items. In the bathroom, hanging shelves or baskets can organize soap, shampoo, and loofahs. If you think of what you use in each space of your RV, ideas will come.
  3. Build In More Drawers – Inside the walls of your RV, there are pockets of unused space. One such location is inside dinette benches. While many allow for drop-in storage from the top, adding full extension guides and drawer boxes can make this space more usable since it doesn’t require dismantling your dining area to access it! Small slide-out and drawer units can also be found for under your tabletops and cabinets to add small spaces for important items that otherwise just get jumbled in with everything else.
  4. Create Usable Space Under Your Mattress – Many RVs do make use of this space (at least partially) with hidden drawers. In many cases, however, the center part of the space under the mattress is completely unusable.

Whether you add drawers, or a hinged platform to lift the mattress up and out of the way, this is a great place for items that stay stored until used and are not typically packed away until it’s time to break camp. Things like outdoor furniture, tents or canopies come to mind. If you live in your RV, this is also a great place for seasonal item storage.

5 Easy Ways to Personalize Your RV

Post originally seen on DoItYourselfRV.com

Everyone wants their home to feel like their home. Even their home on wheels! One of the best parts about RVing vs. staying in hotels is having your home and your things along for the ride. It is so nice going out and exploring all days and coming “home” at night.

Since RVs tend to come with little personality, it’s up to you to make the space your own. Some choose to completely renovate the inside of their RV to make it truly theirs, but there are small changes you can make that’ll make a huge difference. Here are five ways to personalize your tiny home on wheels.

1. Wall Decor – The walls of an RV are pretty bare. Unless you are lucky enough to get a rig with a stylish border, the walls are probably plain. (Side note, you CAN remove the wallpaper border with little effort!) A super simple way to personalize your RV is to spice up the walls. With family photos, artwork, hanging plants, etc. There is no need to put holes in the walls of your rig. Command Hooks are the perfect way to hang decorations on the walls. The adhesive works great at keeping hooks in place on travel days and will not leave a track on the wall when you’re ready to remove. Command Hooks come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, making it easy to hang virtually anything, no matter the shape or weight. In case you do hit some unsuspected bumps in the road, consider using plastic when possible, especially with picture frames. Nothing will ruin your day quicker than finding broken glass spewed across your floors when you open the front door after traveling.

2. Indoor and Outdoor Rugs – Just like in a stationary home, rugs in your RV can bring the space to life. They make a room feel extra cozy and are an easy way to add your personality. Consider adding a rug or two to your RV to make it your own. Rugs will not only look great as they cover up less than aesthetically pleasing linoleum flooring or carpet, but they are also functional. Rugs can help keep warmth in a while camping in cooler weather. A rug in the living area can make for a great place for young kids to play or lay while watching a movie. A welcome mat at the front door is a great place for wiping dirty feet or storing shoes. A runner in the hallway can make a nice transition piece for the living area to the bedroom. Don’t worry too much about rugs getting dirty as they are so easy to clean. Roll them up, take them outside, and give them a hard beat. Cleaning is done!

3. RV Bedding – Is there anything better than climbing into your own bed at the end of a long day? That’s one of the best parts of RV travel! Give your bedroom or sleeping area a personal touch by updating the bedding. There isn’t much when it comes to RV bedrooms, so the bedding is going to make or break the look and feel of the space! Go for something bright and light to make the room feel larger. Add some throw pillows to make your sanctuary feel extra luxurious and comfy. Want to go the extra mile, spend the extra buck, and make all of your RV bedroom dreams come true? Upgrade the mattress while you’re at it! A new mattress might not make your space look any more personalized, but you better believe it will feel more personalized. Standard RV mattresses aren’t the most comfortable things on earth, and getting a good night’s sleep is essential when camping. A good mattress that matches your sleeping style is the best way to get a good night’s rest.

4. Curtains – What is the deal with the cornices or valances found in most RVs? They don’t necessarily provide any value, and we all know they don’t look good. Luckily, they are pretty easy to remove. With just a few twists of the screwdriver, those ugly window treatments are history! Once the old window treatments are down, replace with curtains and a rod. New curtains are a great way to personalize your RV! You can purchase curtains in a variety of lengths, but hemming curtains too long is a quick fix if necessary. When hanging your curtain rod, consider placing it several inches above the window if possible. This will give the illusion of the wall being taller, making your space feel roomier. Concerned that curtains won’t provide enough privacy? Opt for thick black-out curtains. You can also add blinds under curtains for added privacy.

5. Light Fixtures – RVs come with fairly basic light fixtures. Lighting usually consists of a mixture of dome lights, outdated ceiling light over the dinette, and puck lights. If you are looking to give your motorhome a more personalized look and add some style, updating light fixtures could be just the thing! Just changing out a light or two in each room can make a huge difference. While you are at it, change out old light bulbs for LED lights. This will help you save on energy and keep your lights cooler.

If you are looking to make your tiny home feel more like, well, home, there is no reason to spend a fortune or break your back doing a full renovation. Making a few simple changes can go a long way and make you feel proud of your space.

RVs Are a Preferable Way to Travel

Are RVs Easy to Drive?

Top 5 Suggestions on RVing with Pets

RVs are a great way to travel offering you the flexibility to go where you want when you want and to bring your pets along for the ride! With a little bit of extra planning, traveling with pets can enhance your RVing experience.

Traveling with pets can be made more enjoyable with these 5 Traveling with Pets suggestions.

Camping with pets

  1. Pet Gear and Essentials – You’ll want to bring a leash and/or harness, a pet stake for outside your coach, shampoo, brush/comb, waste pick up bags any flea/tick and heartworm medication (and any other medications) your pet might need while traveling and of course food and pet bowls ( for food and water.) You’ll also want to bring any special blankets, pillows or other items that will help them sleep. A sound machine might be helpful as well to keep outside sounds at bay during the night so you AND your pet/s can have a restful night sleep.
  1. Pet Safety – Always secure your pet when driving in the RV either in a seat belt harness or secured carrier. Driving needs your full attention with no pet distractions and this will keep your pet safe should you have an accident (just as your seatbelt protects you.) As you travel to new surroundings that your pet is not accustomed to they may get away from you. Ensure your pet has an updated ID Tag if they are not chipped (and even if they are for more speedy recognition). Bring along a photo of your pet in case they should get lost and even vaccination records may be needed in case your dog needs vet car along the way.
  1. Exercise – Ensure your campground is pet friendly and has open spaces for your pet/s to roam. Exercising your pet/s is important, get them outside to run and play. This is an adventure for them as well! This goes the same for while your traveling. Make plenty of bathroom breaks along the way which will also allow your pet/s to stretch their legs.
  1. Pet Safety While You Are Out – If you plan on leaving your pet for any period of time in the RV – you’ll want to be sure have your RV plugged in with a generator backup (in case there is a power outage at the campground) or have another power source to keep your pets cool enough/warm enough while you are out. Many RVers have a PET ON BOARD sign as well to notify others that there are pets onboard that will need to rescued should there be a campground emergency.
  1. Be a Good Neighbor – From picking up after your pet to limiting their barking (or any loud noises they might make) to obeying the campground leash laws being a good neighbor to the campers parked around you is important.

At Lichtsinn RV many of our guests bring their pets along when picking up a new RV or when here for service work. We’ve seen dogs, cats, parrots and more come through our front doors. RVing provides amazing outdoor experiences and who better to bring along but your four legged babies. A little bit of planning will go along way in ensuring you and your pet enjoy your trip!

RVs Are a Preferable Way to Travel

Are RVs Easy to Drive?

Top 5 Suggestions on RVing with Kids

RVing allows you the freedom to roam where you want and when you want…and allows you to easily bring your grandchildren or younger children with you.

With the changes in RV offerings over the past couple of years we are seeing more and more families with children and grandparents with grandchildren hitting the road for RV adventures.

But how do you travel with kids “smoothly”…or as “smoothly as possible?” Here are our Top 5 suggestions for making your travels with little ones more enjoyable.

Traveling with kids

  1. Trip Planning

If possible, getting the kids involved in trip planning can help build excitement before and during the trip. What are attractions or other things they’d like to see or experience? Planning ahead is always helpful, but especially when traveling with little ones. Plan for shorter travel days than you might otherwise when you are traveling with children and likely some extra stops for everyone to stretch their legs.

  1. Keep Organized

In any RV your space is more limited than it would be in a house. Keeping yourself and your little ones organized throughout your trip will allow you more time to enjoy your adventures and less time being frustrated by the clutter. Planning ahead, possibly investing in some storage solutions and limiting what you bring (hard to do with kids but necessary) will go miles in keeping your RV organized.

  1. Entertainment

As you Travel from Point A to Point B in your RV, planning what activities the kids will do is important both while on the road as well as once you get to your camping site! While en route, it will help the driver stay focused (without loud distractions due to boredom) and will make the time for everyone go more quickly. Once you arrive at your camp site, planned activities (games, cards, coloring books etc.) are helpful to fill down time and other time you are forced to come inside due to inclement weather. For younger children creating an outdoor play area on an outdoor mat allows them to have their own area outside as well.

  1. Sleeping Arrangements

Spend some time thoughtfully planning where everyone will sleep and what they will need to sleep comfortably. If someone in the RV isn’t sleeping well…no one sleeps well! The lack of sleep can carry over and ruin your adventures the next day.

If you need to leave something at home to make space for something that will aid in sleeping, it’s worth it! A sound machine or other sort of tranquil sleeping machine or app may help keep the outside noises at bay and help everyone sleep more soundly. Even while creating memories of a lifetime, keeping with a consistent bedtime schedule and routine helps everyone sleep better as well.

  1. SNACKS

While en route or even once you get to your campsite having plenty of snacks (quick snacks, and not so quick) will make your trip with kids more enjoyable. Possibly bring some along that they can help make. All of that fresh air increases those little (and big) appetites. Don’t forget the S’mores!

Take a deep breath and enjoy your time together.  While traveling with children may at first seem overwhelming it is a great way to get out and have some quality time with your young ones. Keep in mind the traveling is part of the adventure (not just the destination) and enjoy your time with your little ones. The memories and experiences you create will last forever, while their youth will not.

How to Find an RV Park

RV Class Types Explained A, B, C

Whether you are new to RVing or perhaps new to “motorized” RVing one of the first things you’ll discover is there are different RV Classes: Class A, Class B and Class C RVs and different comforts and accessibility that come with each.

Class A RV’s

Class A

Class A RV’s are large “bus shaped RVs” with a large front windshield. Winnebago Class A RVs run in length between 28’5” (The Winnebago Vista 27P and the Winnebago Adventurer 27N) and 43’3” in the Winnebago Horizon 42Q. Winnebago offers both gas and diesel Class A models that sleep between 6-8 people.

These larger Class A Motorhome floorplans allow you to have many of the amenities of home including models with: a king sized bed, a guest bathroom (master bath plus a ½ bath), washer and dryer and ample storage space in and outside of the coach to allow you to bring the comforts from home with you (and some use the RV as their fulltime home.) Certain Class A models also include an outside entertainment area complete with a TV Entertainment System and Tailgate Package including a small kitchen with a refrigerator, a small sink and storage.

With the longer Class A RV lengths you do typically sacrifice fuel efficiency averaging 6-10 miles per gallon and are sometimes limited on where you can park/camp. Winnebago Class A Gas models include: The Winnebago Intent, the Winnebago Vista and Winnebago Sunstar, and the Winnebago Adventure each built on the Ford Chassis. Winnebago Class A Diesel models include: The Winnebago Forza and the Winnebago Horizon built on the Freightliner XCS and Maxum Chassis.

Class B RV’s

Class B

Class B Vans are typically the smallest motorized RV’s, also referred to as Campervans. Due to their petite length they are more agile than RVs in the other RV classes and can drive and park most anywhere.

Winnebago Class B RVs run between 19’7” (the Winnebago Revel) to 22’11” in length (The Winnebago Boldt). This shorter length allows Class B owners to get easily where they need to go to enjoy their next adventurer. Some Class B RV’s are available in 4WD which allows owners even more flexibility on the terrain they can travel on.

Class B RVs are also available in gas and diesel models each of which boast high fuel efficiency with 18-22mpg. They have available sleeping between 2-4 people and due to their small footprint include many creative storage solutions. Winnebago Class B RVs are equipped with a kitchen, a Wet Bath, Sleeping Area and Seating/Dining Area. Winnebago Class B Gas models include: The Winnebago Solis and the Winnebago Travato on the Dodge RAM ProMaster Chassis. Winnebago Class B Diesel models include: The Winnebago Revel, The Winnebago Era and the Winnebago Boldt all on the Mercedes Sprinter Diesel Chassis.

 Class C RV’s

Class C

Winnebago Class C RV’s fit right in between Class A and B models. They are available in the longer lengths like the Class A RVs with some of the same amenities, but many owners feel they are easier to drive than the Class A “bus style” RVs. Winnebago Class C RVs are available in both Gas and Diesel models ranging in fuel efficiency between 8-18 mpg (the diesel on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter Chassis achieve 16-18 mpg while the gas powered models on the Ford Chassis tend to achieve between 8-10 mpg.)
Winnebago Class C RVs run between 24’5” (the Winnebago Minnie Winnie and Spirit 22M) to 32’9” in length (The Winnebago Minnie Winnie and Spirit 31H and 31K). Winnebago offers both gas and diesel Class C models that sleep between 4-8 people. All Class C floorplans provide you with a full kitchen, full bath and ample storage.

Winnebago Class C Gas models include: The Winnebago Minnie Winnie and Spirit and the Winnebago Outlook on the Ford Chassis. Winnebago Class C Diesel models include: The Winnebago View and Navion and the Winnebago Vita and Porto on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter Diesel Chassis.

The Motorhome market can seem vast, however, once you’ve determined the “Class” of RV that best fits your needs you can narrow in on the perfect RV for you.
